At the restaurant
- Step-free entrance via the main door. A small ramp is available on request; please call ahead.
- Ground floor throughout — counter, dining room, robata lounge, and both private rooms.
- Accessible restroom with grab bars, lever fittings, and emergency call cord.
- Wheelchair-accessible seating at the counter, dining room, and in both private rooms. Please note your needs at booking.
- Service animals always welcome. Water and a quiet resting area provided.
- Large-print menus available on request. Menu is also read aloud by the server at any pace you'd like.
- Dim lighting considerations — our lighting is intentionally low. We can provide a small book light and guide to the table for guests with low vision.
- Hearing loop at the host stand and the reservations desk.
- Quiet-room seating — tell us if you'd like the quietest table; we'll arrange it.
- Allergen & ingredient lists maintained for every service; ask your server for any course.
On the website
We target WCAG 2.2 AA conformance. Our most recent audit was conducted internally in March 2026.
- Semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) and logical heading order.
- Text contrast meets 4.5:1 for body and 3:1 for large text. Bronze-on-ink and paper-on-ink combinations measured and verified.
- Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements (2px bronze outline, 3px offset).
- All images carry descriptive alt text. Decorative images use
alt="". - Forms use labeled inputs, descriptive error messaging, and appropriate
autocompletehints. - Keyboard-navigable throughout, including the mobile drawer, reservation tabs, FAQ accordion, and gallery lightbox (Esc closes; arrow keys navigate).
- Color is never the only channel for information (tabs, toasts, status).
- Motion honors
prefers-reduced-motion— reveals and scrolls fall back to static. - Target touch size ≥ 44×44 pt on mobile.
Known limitations
- The decorative 黒花 kanji glyph in philosophy and about sections is marked
aria-hidden="true"; contextual meaning is conveyed via nearby text. - The gallery lightbox preloads one image ahead; users on slow connections may experience a brief delay.
- The static map graphic on the contact page is supplemented by a text-first address, phone, and linked Google Maps. Full interactive maps are avoided to respect user privacy.
How to request accommodations
We prepare best when we know in advance. Please note any accommodations you'd like — mobility, hearing, vision, cognitive, service animal — in the Notes field of any reservation, or email reserve@kurohanahouse.com. We respond within a few hours during booking hours.
Feedback & complaints
If you encounter a barrier — at the restaurant or on this website — we want to know. Email accessibility@kurohanahouse.com or call the reservations desk. Our house director reads every message personally.
This statement will be revised as changes are made. Next scheduled review: October 2026.
